Queen Kahuna recommends inserting a lifeline at key points throughout the sock knitting process to make it easier to pick up stitches when you have to frog back. I learned my lesson the hard way and have used some cotton crochet thread and a tapestry needle to run a lifeline in the round after my toe increases ended. I've started working the foot using the Twin Rib pattern [all odd: k3, p3; all even: k1,p1] for the top of the foot.
