This year was yet another great event. It was so nice meeting new people and seeing familiar faces during Knitting In The Heartland this year. I had a few inquiries from regular readers of my blog who stopped by to shop and visit. It was interesting hearing their perspective on my life experiences. I got a teeny tiny glimpse of what it must be like to be a celebrity only in the way that their life is out there for all to see. But like I told one of my visitors...if anything that I've put out there on the interwebs helps just one person learn something new or feel better about themself then it's a good thing.
I had a decent amount of business this year, however a considerable chunk of my profits went to some of the other vendors this weekend. :) It's my contribution towards stimulating the economy. Yeah, that's it. Anywho...I've started updating my Etsy shop with new items and old favorites for those that weren't able to make it to my table or who might be interested in additional items.
Hanging out in the vendor market this year, I had an opportunity to shop and chat with many of them. Mrs. Kahra of Cheezombie was the vendor to my immediate right and I must say I am completely and utterly enamoured with her knitted toys. Most especially my prized Sheepish and Baby Slug toys that I snagged on day 1. Interestingly enough, Miss Sheepish is a cover model. You see, she's featured on the cover of the Sheepish pattern, so she's my sheepish supermodel.
I just need to give her a name. How about Miss Sheepilious Sheep?
Deb's table was directly behind mine. I traded Deb a bag and a couple sets of markers for this jeweled beauty.
Deb and I had a wonderful conversation Sunday as I was gazing at her beautiful wares and later while she visited my table. More on that conversation later. It was inspiring and encouraging to say the least.
Elaine of Sunfield makes a fabulous lavender and lemon scented salve (inside the cute silver tin) and a coordinating lavender and lemon soap. I just love handmade soaps and lotions. The salve goes on light and gives a beautiful shiny glow.
I was so giddy when I saw her nametag as she browsed my table because my middle name is Elaine.
I spied this hank of beautiful canary yellow yarn at the Serenity Hill Farm booth. Its so unusual to find a nice yellow yarn and I knew I had to have it. Somehow she was able to dye this alpaca using a flavor of the Kool-Aid brand.
Last, but not least is Melissa Leapman. She was this year's Guest Instructor. Here I am wearing my coveted autographed "M" sheep pin. The sheep was illustrated by Melissa. She offered to autograph it and I, actually, remembered to bring in a fine tip Sharpie the next day so she could.
Teri took care of all the vendors during the event and gave me this pin right before I packed up on Sunday.
