Happy St. Patrick's Day!

They say everyone is Irish on St. Patrick's Day, but part of my heritage besides the most obvious is that my last name is Irish. I haven't done a whole lot of research YET, but some simple Googling has lead me to a quaint, countryside township in Northern Ireland bearing my last name. There's even some kind of aristocratic house bearing my last name. Whoa. There aren't a whole lot of people around the world with my last name and the ones of us here in the USA are DEFINITELY related, it's only a matter of connecting the dots from the Caucasian ancestors to the Black ancestors. I'd love to find out the real story there. Were they slave owners? Were they poor sharecroppers? Was there some kind of romance or just barbaric rape and savagery?
Fortunately, there's an Irish Museum and Cultural Center at the Kansas City Union Station. It's free and they have lots of free genealogy tools. I stumbled across it while visiting Union Station back in October and found that the lady director, Rachel of the Irish Heritage Museum was very friendly and helpful and sympathetic to recognizing Blacks Americans with Irish ancestors.
